Fourth Weekend

Making great progress.  Time to remove the engine. As you can see it is a family affair with my wife Stephanie helping out.  She used her Barbie pressure washer to clean the grime from the frame and engine.

We had a white Christmas in Huntsville.

Third Weekend

Next to go is the cab.  Lots of work taking out the dash, heater, seats, gas tank, wipers, etc. One of the main reasons to get this model was the 5 window cab. It is just too cool.

Second Weekend

We are finding our groove. This weekend we removed the rear fenders and the bed.  Carriage bolts are the worst invention ever. We had to cut everyone out to remove the bed strips.

The First Weekend

We are under way. The first step was to remove the hood and front sheet metal.  Dale, on the left is a neighbor that is helping and providing much needed expertise.

1954 Chevy Truck EV Conversion

I am starting a frame up restoration of a 1954 ¾ ton Chevy truck and converting it to an electric motor.
The truck was purchased on ebay in September 2010 and was located in Bemidji, Minnisota.  A local transporter was hired to ship the truck to Huntsville, Alabama. Due to previous commitmentments, mainly working the sugar beet harvest the truck arrived at the end of November, it was in good condition.

The truck was towed to my house and it took six friends to push the truck into the driveway.

This is the final picture before we started to take it apart.
